China Town= the Chinese Must-gos

In every major cities in the US, there's a Chinatown. It is a place where Asian population will gather and live. It is the place where you can enjoy authentic Asian food (for example, Chinese). Boston is the city with the largest Chinatown in the New England Area, which makes everything all the more convenient for us. : )

Located on the Orange Line, Boston Chinatown is the destination for all that want to find the flavor of China. It is the center of Asian-American life in New England, hosting many Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese restaurants and markets. Chinatown is one of Boston's most densely-populated residential districts.

You'll not only see restaurant and some street signs in familiar Chinese, but also find yourself surrounded by all the cantonese folks. There's an old joke that goes, in Chinatown, you don't have to speak, but you have to know Cantonese!

There's a large Chinese Supermarket located on 692 Washington Street. You can find pretty much everything from Old Nanny (老干妈) hot sauce to rice-cooker and other usual equipments that can help you settle your life here.
One piece of advice though, the vegetables are usually not as fresh as those sold in foreign supermarkets, so you might want to cook it as soon as possible.

When you're in Chinatown, don't hesitate to try out some of the best Chinese Food restaurants in town. Gourmet Dumpling House (南北风味)located on 52 Beach Street is one of my personal favorite. Although owned by a Taiwanese, you can have delicious mini stemed buns with pork and crabmeat (蟹粉汤包) for only $6.95. If you're a spicy food lover, they also have the pickled mustard with intestine and blood pudding(毛血旺) which originally is from Sichuan. If you 're going with a bunch of friends, say 3 to 4 people, the average cost per person to have a great meal is around $8 to $10.

Chinatown makes our study life much easier--given the supermarket and the numerous restaurants there are. It's also a great place to hang out with your foreign classmates, help them get a glimpse of the Chinese culture. So, leave me a comment, and maybe we can hang out in the Boston Chinatown someday.
